How can we distinguish between a manager and a leader? Which type are you surrounded by?
- “Management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things.” (P. Drucker)
- “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” (J. Maxwell)
- “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” (Steve Jobs)
- “A leader has to be: visionary, educator, innovator, motivator, communicator, facilitator, advisor.”
I am privileged to work with so many who meet the various criteria for leadership above. When the vision is clear, when it is communicated with sensitivity and confidence, when it takes us outside our ‘comfort zone’, then real progress is possible.
